The Service of Song
April 13, 2023
Maria Joseph Nursing & Rehabilitation Center would like to take a moment to recognize one of our notable volunteers during Volunteer Month! We are proud to highlight Marian Farley and honor the time she generously donates at our facility.
Marian Farley has volunteered at our skilled nursing facility for over 20 years as our organist. Her mother was a resident at Maria Joseph, and Marian always appreciated the love and care her mother received here. Because of this, she felt called to give back to the facility.
Sometime over the years, Maria Joseph’s original pipe organ was removed from the chapel. Marian saw this as an opportunity to give back, so she sourced, purchased, and installed the current pipe organ in our chapel. She said the donation of the pipe organ is a dedication to her mother and the care she received at Maria Joseph. Marian has faithfully played the organ for our facility for many years, including chapel services, funerals, memorial services, and, most recently, an open house for the Sisters of the Precious Blood.
When asked why she continues to serve after so many years, Marian stated,
"Maria Joseph is a special place. When entering the building, there is peace and calm that can be felt." Music and ministering to others is Marian's calling in life, and as long as God allows her to use her gifts, she will do it to the best of her ability. Her music and singing have encouraged and blessed many over the years. Marian is always willing to help in the chapel and serve communion to the residents.
It’s a true honor and privilege to have Marian as a volunteer. She is doing great things by giving back to the community. The smallest gestures sometimes mean the world to someone else out there. We appreciate you more than you know, Marian!
If you're interested in getting more involved at Maria Joseph, we have many different volunteer opportunities! Our Activities Department is always open to welcoming new faces who want to spend time with our residents. Whether it's to go on an outing or help with a craft, we'd love to hear from you.
